ANNOUNCEMENTS:
April is Autism Awareness Month
What is Autism?
Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 36 children and 1 in 45 adults in the United States today.
We know that there is not one type of autism, but many. Autism looks different for everyone, and each person with autism has a distinct set of strengths and challenges. Some autistic people can speak, while others are nonverbal and minimally verbal and communicate in other ways. Some have intellectual disabilities, while some do not. Some require significant support in their daily lives, while others need less support and, in some cases, live entirely independently.

We are pleased to share some important news about the progress our students and staff have made over the past year. As you may know, Lincoln Jr/Sr. High School was identified for Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) due to challenges in proficiency and growth on standardized assessments, Career and College Readiness, and Attendance. Over the past year, our entire school community has worked with focus and dedication to improve in these areas, and we are proud to announce that we have met the challenge.
Thanks to the hard work of our students, teachers, staff, and families, we have not been re-designated for TSI for this coming school year. Our efforts have led to meaningful improvements:
The Academic Growth Score for our students on standardized assessments increased by over 10 percentage points in Math, Science, and ELA.
The percentage of students who are not chronically absent increased by over 10 percentage points.
More students than ever met the Career Standards Benchmark, surpassing the state average.
This achievement is a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our school community. While we take this opportunity to recognize our progress, we remain committed to ensuring continued growth and success for all students.
Thank you for your support and partnership in this work. Together, we will continue to move forward.
